This is the first and the most important subject and department of Ayurveda, also known as basic principles. This department is concerned with basic principles of Ayurveda which are described in classical texts like Ayurveda Samhitas. Samhitas are in Sanskrit language which are a divine language. Hence, to understand the Samhita in their true meanings Sanskrit is also taught by this department along with Samhitas in detail.

Sanskrit: Ayurveda originated as of vedic sciences. All original texts of Ayurveda were science in Sanskrit. So, the knowledge of Sanskrit language is compulsory to learn Ayurveda.

Samhita Siddhanta Dept. - Department of Sanskrit, Samhita and Basic Principles of Ayurveda is one of the Preclinical Department of Ayurveda. This department is concerned with basic principles of Ayurved, thus this department is popularly known as “Department of Basic Principles”. At the under graduate level we tought Sanskrit, Padarth Vigyan Avum Ayurved Ka Itihas, Maulik Siddhant Avum Ashtang Hridayam Sutrasthan and Charak Samhita (Poorvardh & Uttarardha). Our department teaches the Basic Principles i.e. Panchmahabhoot Siddhant, Tridosha Siddhant, Defferent types of Vaad Marg and Tantrayukti which is very useful in day to day practice of Ayurveda. Basic principles are very important in Ayurveda without the knowledge of Basic principles one can’t be able to learn the Ayurveda. Sanskrit language helps the students to understand the original Ayurveda text books which si written in Sanskrit. Padarth Vigyan provided the Basic knowledge about the evolution of the Ayurveda from Indian Philosophy. Our department is conducting various knowledge upgrading seminars like Charak - Samhita Ek Maulik Chintan & Sanskrit Sambhasan etc.,

Department is fulfilled as per norms of NCISM. There are different types of equipments and instruments to perform the practical. Lectures are taken using different audio-visual aids. Departmental faculties are using most of the medical education techniques for better teaching.. Medical educational research activities are regularly going on in the department. Departmental faculties actively participate in the institutional activities.
